British-Nigerian rapper Skepta joins forces with Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake on Aloe Vera, a collaboration that connects two influential sounds from the UK and Nigerian music scenes. The pairing brings together different musical backgrounds for a cross-cultural release.
The record places Skepta’s UK rap identity alongside Asake’s distinctive Afrobeats approach. Skepta is known for his direct lyrical delivery and grime influences, while Asake brings a recognisable vocal style shaped by Yoruba expressions, street-pop and Fuji-inspired elements. Their contrasting musical personalities give the collaboration its central appeal, creating a meeting point between British rap culture and contemporary Nigerian music.
The song appears as the tenth track on Skepta’s 15-song album, The Fork and Knife, released on November 6, 2026, through Big Smoke Records and Epic Records. The project marks his first solo studio album since 2019’s Ignorance Is Bliss. Skepta previously teased the collaboration in December 2025, alongside producer credits involving Lex Luger, Vanco and JAE5.
One particularly interesting aspect of this release is the connection between both artists. Skepta’s Nigerian heritage and Asake’s position within the modern Afrobeats movement make their collaboration more than an ordinary international pairing. It brings together two artists with different routes into music but a shared cultural connection.
Listeners who enjoy UK rap, Afrobeats and cross-border collaborations will find plenty of reasons to explore this release. It also represents an exciting meeting between two established names whose musical identities bring different perspectives to the same project.
